FlightScope Mevo Gen2 vs Mevo+: How the Gen2 Upgrades the Mevo+

Share

The FlightScope Mevo Gen2 ($1,299) is the current-generation Mevo, and it arrived as FlightScope wound down the older Mevo+. In this FlightScope Mevo Gen2 vs Mevo+ comparison, we look at how the two units line up and why the Mevo Gen2 is the unit to choose today if you know the Mevo+ or are stepping up from one.

The short version: the Mevo Gen2 carries forward the same FlightScope Fusion Tracking the Mevo+ was known for, then modernizes it with a longer USB-C battery, a lifetime course bundle, no subscription, and an upgrade path that reaches further than the Mevo+ ever did.

Mevo Gen2 vs Mevo+: Quick Verdict

Get the Mevo Gen2. It is FlightScope's current portable launch monitor, it uses the same Fusion Tracking as the Mevo+, and it improves on the older unit where it counts: a 6-hour USB-C battery, a lifetime E6 Connect bundle with no subscription, and the option to add the Pro Package and Face Impact Location for deeper club and impact data. If you already own a Mevo+, the Gen2 is the natural step forward; if you are new to FlightScope, it is the model to start with.

The Mevo Gen2 Is the Current Mevo

FlightScope discontinued the Mevo+ in November 2025. The Mevo Gen2 is now FlightScope's current portable launch monitor, and it is the unit that ongoing software, app, and accessory support is built around. For anyone familiar with the Mevo+, the Gen2 is the modern continuation of the same idea: FlightScope's radar-plus-camera tracking in a compact, take-anywhere unit, brought up to date and set on FlightScope's current development path.

Same Fusion Tracking, Brought Forward

The most important thing the two units share is their engine. Both the Mevo Gen2 and the Mevo+ use FlightScope Fusion Tracking, which combines 3D Doppler radar with synchronized image processing. That is the tracking approach the Mevo+ built its reputation on, and the Mevo Gen2 carries it forward. Indoors, the Mevo Gen2 reads spin with an included aluminum sticker or a Titleist RCT ball. So the move from the Mevo+ to the Gen2 is not a change in tracking technology; it is the same proven system in a newer, better-supported unit.

Data Parameters: 18 Core, and Expandable

The Mevo+ measured 20 data parameters; the Mevo Gen2 measures 18 data parameters across full swing, chipping, and putting. Both cover the numbers that matter day to day: ball speed, carry, spin rate, launch, club speed, and smash factor. Where the Gen2 pulls ahead is its upgrade path. The optional one-time Pro Package ($599) adds advanced club data such as club path and face angle, and the Face Impact Location ($350) add-on shows exactly where you struck the face. Added together, the Mevo Gen2 can be built well beyond the Mevo+'s data set.

Battery and Portability: A Clear Step Up

This is one of the most practical upgrades. The Mevo Gen2 runs up to 6 hours on a USB-C rechargeable battery, while the Mevo+ ran up to about 3 hours (and roughly 1.5 hours in continuous simulator play). USB-C charging is universal and convenient, and at 17.6 ounces the Gen2 stays pocketable and easy to move between a home sim room and the range. If long, uninterrupted sessions matter to you, the newer unit is the clear, practical improvement.

Software, Courses, and Subscriptions

Both units connect to leading simulator platforms, including E6 Connect and GSPro, and both run on a phone, tablet, or PC. The Mevo+ shipped with 12 E6 Connect courses. The Mevo Gen2 includes 8 E6 Connect courses free for life and needs no subscription for its core data, using the free FS Golf and FS Skills apps. The Gen2's content is yours to keep with no recurring fee, so you own what you practice on. We cover the Gen2 software picture in depth in our Mevo Gen2 subscription and software guide.

Upgrading from the Mevo+ to the Mevo Gen2

If you have used a Mevo+, the Mevo Gen2 keeps what worked and improves the rest. You retain the FlightScope Fusion Tracking you already trust, and you gain USB-C charging, roughly double the battery life, a lifetime E6 Connect course bundle with no subscription, and current app and software support. From there, the Gen2 grows with you: add the Pro Package for advanced club data and the Face Impact Location add-on for strike feedback, building a deeper data set than the Mevo+ offered. If your Mevo+ still does everything you need, there is no urgency to replace a working unit; the upgrade case is strongest for new buyers and for owners who want the longer battery, USB-C, the lifetime course bundle, or the added club and impact data. The Gen2's core data needs no paid add-ons, so the Pro Package and Face Impact Location stay optional.

Bottom Line

The Mevo Gen2 and the Mevo+ share FlightScope's Fusion Tracking, which is why the Gen2 feels like a true continuation rather than a different product. The Mevo+ measured two more base data parameters and shipped with more included courses, but it is the previous generation. The Mevo Gen2 is the current model: a longer USB-C battery, a lifetime course bundle, no subscription on the core unit, and an upgrade path through the Pro Package and Face Impact Location that goes further than the Mevo+ did. For a new launch monitor today, the Gen2 is the FlightScope Mevo to choose. Top Shelf Golf is an authorized FlightScope dealer.
