Launch Monitor Subscriptions Compared (2026): Which Need One, Which Don't, and the Real Yearly Cost

Launch monitor subscriptions

Launch monitor subscriptions compared

Which units play courses with no yearly plan, which charge only for extras such as course play, and which put the data itself behind a membership.

The price tag on a launch monitor is the first number. The second number is the plan that keeps the courses, the club data or the third-party software switched on, and it can double what you spend over five years.

This guide lines up every launch monitor we sell by that second number, from the makers' own plan pages and our catalog, so you can pick the unit whose bill you are happy to pay for the long haul.

Do you need a subscription for a launch monitor? The short answer

Most units give you the numbers free and charge for extras such as course play; several play courses with no plan at all. Three lock data: spin and club path (MLM2PRO), club data (Launch Pro and LPi).

No plan at all

6 units play courses free

SC4 PRO, Garmin R10, Mevo Gen2, X3C, NVISAGE N1 and NEO-E; the ProTee VX adds no fee of its own.

Garmin R50, Uneekor, SkyTrak, Foresight and Full Swing: numbers free, pay for course play or extras.

Launch Pro and LPi: club data. MLM2PRO: spin, angle of attack and club path on Core. Details in the table below.

Fastest check: the launch monitor comparison lines up every model with its plan, and the launch monitor collection has today's prices.

Which launch monitors work without a subscription?

Which launch monitors give you the data free and charge for course play?

These units charge for their own course play, and most give you the numbers free (TruGolf does not say what the APOGEE does without its E6 plan).

The plan column is the cheapest paid tier that opens course play (a maker tier, or GSPro where none comes first). Uneekor Pro also opens third-party software; for Foresight that takes Gold, $599 a year, or an eligible FSX license.

  • SkyTrak: a 14-day trial membership with Sweetens Cove and the game improvement tools.
  • Rapsodo: the MLM2PRO page says a 21-day Core trial is included with purchase, while its FAQ still says 45 days of Premium; the card on file renews after it.

Which launch monitors put the data itself behind a subscription?

Three units charge for the numbers themselves, not just the courses. On the Bushnell units, Silver unlocks the club data and a Course Pass adds the courses on top.

What does a golf simulator subscription cost over five years?

Add the hardware to five years of the cheapest course-play plan and the order changes. A $500 radar with a $99.99 plan lands under $1,000, while a $3,000 camera unit with a $494 plan passes $5,000.

How much do GSPro and E6 add on top?

Third-party software is a second bill, and on four brands it needs the maker's plan first (Foresight also accepts an eligible perpetual FSX license).

GSPro

$250 a year

Windows PC only, updates for the life of the subscription. GSPro 1-year subscription.

E6 Connect

$300 or $600 a year

TGC 2019

$949 once

A one-time PC license with no renewal. TGC 2019.

GSPro's supported list names the units below; the total is that plan plus the $250 GSPro license.

The SkyTrak ST MAX is not on GSPro's supported list; its course play lives in the SKYTRAK app plans.

Price the whole bay, plan included, in the golf simulator builder, or start from a complete simulator package and add the unit that fits your room.

Bottom line

A launch monitor subscription is optional on most of the lineup and mandatory for part of the data on three units. Decide which bill you will still be glad to pay in year five, then pick the hardware around it.

  • Best no-subscription launch monitor (our pick): FlightScope Mevo Gen2, $1,299, 8 courses for life and GSPro available for $250 a year.
  • Cheapest plan that opens a full course library: Garmin Golf at $99.99 a year on the R10 or R50.
  • Read the plan before the spec sheet: on the Launch Pro and LPi the club numbers, and on the MLM2PRO club path, angle of attack and measured spin, sit behind the paid tier.
