Carl's Place Projector Accessories

Carl's Place Universal Projector Mount

A Peerless-AV PRG Precision Gear mount, the same one Carl's Place ships with their simulator builds. It holds up to 50 lbs, fits most projectors on a Spider adaptor plate that extends to 17.63 inches, and mounts flush to the ceiling or drops from it on an extender, whichever your room needs.

Two knobs set tilt and roll. Turn them by hand or with a Phillips screwdriver, and the precision gears hold the position, including while you service the projector. No adjustment screws to creep out of alignment.

Choosing Options

Flat Plate or Angled Plate?

Carl's Place ceiling plates: round flat plate for a level ceiling and angled plate for a sloped ceiling, shown with the drop extender and mount

Look up at the surface you are drilling into. Level, choose Flat. Sloped in any direction, choose Angled. That is the whole decision.

Flat Ceiling Plate

The round plate in the picture. It bolts flush against a level ceiling and the extender hangs straight down from it. This is the right pick for most finished rooms, basements and garages with a flat ceiling.

Angled Ceiling Plate

The wedge-shaped bracket. It is built for a ceiling that slopes: vaulted, cathedral, or an unfinished garage where you are anchoring to a pitched rafter. It corrects for the pitch so the extender still hangs vertical instead of leaning with the roof. It adds $26.

A tilted mount is not a small problem. The whole point of the drop is to put the unit level and square, and a plate that follows the roof line fights you on every adjustment. Flush Mount uses no ceiling plate at all: the mount bolts straight to the ceiling, so pick it only when your projector is already at the right height. Frame Mount skips the ceiling entirely and clamps to a Carl's Place Pro enclosure frame instead.

Why This Mount

Set It Once

Pin-Point Image Alignment

Patent-pending precision gears give you tilt of +/-20 degrees and roll of +/-10 degrees in exact increments. Set the gear and it stays set.

Fits Most Projectors

The Spider Universal Adaptor Plate extends to 17.63 inches and carries up to 50 lbs, which covers every short throw projector we sell.

Flush To The Ceiling

Horizontal wrench access slots make flush mounting quick. Swivel is +/-15 degrees flush mounted, or a full 360 degrees on an extension column.

Cables Out Of Sight

The U-shaped pitch bracket routes cables through the mount. A quick-release mechanism drops the projector for service without touching your alignment.

Projector mount tilt adjustment range

Three Axes, Two Knobs

  • Tilt: +/-20 degrees
  • Roll: +/-10 degrees
  • Swivel: +/-15 degrees flush mounted, 360 degrees on an extension column
  • Pre-assembled, so it goes up faster than a kit of parts
  • Pre-installed security screws lock tilt and roll against tampering

Getting a projected image square on an impact screen is the fiddly part of a simulator build. Gears rather than friction screws are what keep it square a year later.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Will it hold my projector?

If your projector is under 50 lbs and its mounting holes fall within a 17.63 inch span, yes. That covers every short throw projector we sell, including the BenQ AK700ST and LK936ST and the Optoma short throw range.

Can I drop the projector down from a high ceiling?

Yes. Pick one of the Drop Mount options above and the kit ships with the ceiling plate and a telescoping extender in the length you choose: 6 to 9 inches, 12 to 18 inches, 2 to 3 feet, or 3 to 5 feet. Flush Mount is the mount on its own for a standard ceiling. On a drop, swivel opens up from 15 degrees to a full 360. Measure from your finished ceiling to where you want the projector body, then pick the extender that covers it. Vaulted or cathedral ceiling, pick one of the Angled Plate options instead.

Can I mount it to my enclosure frame instead of the ceiling?

Yes. Choose Frame Mount in the Configuration list at the top. It swaps the ceiling plate for frame hardware that clamps this mount straight onto a Carl's Place Pro enclosure frame, which is how a lot of commercial bays are built. It is $315.90 and needs no ceiling work at all, so it is also the answer for a rented space or a ceiling you cannot drill.

What is the warranty?

We're proud to say we are an Authorized Dealer/Distributor for all the brands we carry. All our products come directly from the manufacturer. Peerless-AV covers this mount with a limited 5-year warranty from the date of the original purchase, subject to its conditions and limitations.

How does it ship?

Ground, free on orders over $150. It is a small, light box.
