Golf Simulator Nets
Which Golf Net Should You Buy?
Pick a golf simulator net: ceiling first, then width. The Net Return Home fits an 8 ft garage or basement ceiling for irons (golfers to about 5 ft 6 in); a driver wants 8 ft 6 in to 10 ft.
Find the Golf Net for Your Room
Eight sizes. Choose by ceiling height, then width.
The short answer
The Home, 7 ft x 7 ft and $695, is the indoor golf net for an 8 ft ceiling (irons, golfers to about 5 ft 6 in); eight sizes run $295 to $1,599, all rated for 225 mph ball speed.
Then decide whether you want ball data on a screen or the course projected in front of you.
$695
7 ft x 7 ft, the garage and basement size, with the same frame and netting as every other size.
$1,294
The Home net and a 6 ft x 10 ft Pro Turf. Add a launch monitor and play on a screen you already own.

Golf Net or Impact Screen: Which Do You Need?
A net stops the ball. An impact screen stops the ball and shows the picture. With a net, you watch the shot on a phone, tablet or TV, because a projector cannot put an image on netting.
| What you want | Golf net | Net + Simulator Kit | Floating Screen Simulator Bay | Enclosure with impact screen |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Stops the ball with | Netting that rolls the ball back to you | A projection screen bungeed to the net, valence over the top | A floating screen inside a netted bay | An impact screen in a framed bay with fabric walls |
| What you see | Launch monitor data and courses on a phone, tablet or TV | The projected course on the screen (set the projector to 4:3) | The projected course on a screen that absorbs sound and limits rebound | The projected course, up to curved and wall-to-wall widths |
| Indoors or out | Both: garage, basement or backyard | Indoors, where a projector can throw a picture | Indoors only | Indoors, in a fixed spot |
| Room it needs | Net width plus about 2 ft, 14 ft long | The net's room, with space inside it for the projector's throw distance (less with a short throw) | 10, 12 or 14 ft wide, 9 ft high, 14 ft deep | From 8 ft 10 in wide, 8 ft 7 in high, 16 ft 9 in deep (DIY) |
| Setup | Push-button frame, no tools, under 5 minutes | The valence slides over the net and the screen bungees on; swap back in minutes | Push-button frame, no tools | Pipe frame to assemble |
| Price from | $295 (Junior), $695 (Home) | $1,084 (Home net and kit) | $1,395 (8 ft bay only); full package from $3,002 | $999.95 (DIY enclosure kit); Carl's Place impact screens from $179.95 |
| Best for | Practice now, a setup that moves outside, ball data on the TV | One net for plain practice and simulator nights | A small or shared room, a quieter bay | A dedicated sim room and the widest screens |

- Start with a net if you want to hit balls this week, move between the garage and the lawn, or keep the first purchase under $695.
- Add a screen to the net with the Simulator Kit, ticked when you order the net: the screen's corner grommets bungee to the net, and it comes off when you want the plain net back.
- Go straight to a screen when the picture matters from day one: the Floating Screen Simulator Bay for a small room, or a golf simulator enclosure for a permanent bay.

Room width, ceiling and length are The Net Return's suggested minimums from its setup guide, not just frame clearance. Net sizes and weights are The Net Return's.
How Much Room Does a Golf Net Need?
A golf net for a garage or basement needs about 14 ft from the wall behind the net to the wall behind you, and a room about 2 ft wider than the net.
Height is the number that sends a golf practice net back.

- The Net Return's three gaps: 1 to 2 ft behind the net, 5 to 10 ft from ball to net, 2 to 4 ft behind you; the net itself is 3 ft 6 in deep (2 ft 4 in for the Junior)
- Worked example: 1 ft behind the frame, the 3 ft 6 in net, 7 ft to the ball and 2 ft 6 in behind you is 14 ft
- Radar launch monitor? It sits behind the ball, so add its depth behind you
Ceiling Height by Golfer Height
| Golfer height | Irons only | Driver |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 5 ft 6 in | 8 ft | 8 ft 6 in to 9 ft |
| 5 ft 7 in to 6 ft | 8 ft to 8 ft 6 in | 9 ft |
| Over 6 ft | 8 ft 6 in | 9 to 10 ft |
The Net Return's comfortable ceiling heights. Keep 6 to 9 in between the top of your swing and the lowest obstruction.
Three Checks Before You Order
- Swing a driver where the mat will go. Net height is not ceiling clearance; the club at the top of the backswing is.
- Measure the depth with a tape. The Net Return's guideline is about 14 ft; 10 to 11 ft still works for wedges and short irons.
- Add 2 ft to the net width. A 10 ft wide Pro 10 or Pro XL feels right in a room 11 to 12 ft wide, The Net Return says; its room table suggests 12 ft.
Turn a Golf Net Into a Golf Simulator
A net, a mat and a launch monitor are a golf simulator; the course plays on a screen you already own. Order the net with the Simulator Kit and add a projector when you want it in front of you.

The Mini and Junior have no Simulator Kit.
- Radar launch monitors (Garmin Approach R10, FlightScope Mevo Gen2, Rapsodo MLM2PRO, Swing Caddie, Full Swing KIT) sit behind you and need the most depth; all of them also work outside.
- Camera launch monitors (SkyTrak ST MAX, Bushnell Launch Pro, Garmin R50, Foresight GC3, Uneekor EYE MINI) sit beside the ball, so a short room still works.
- Overhead units (Uneekor EYE XO, Foresight Falcon, ProTee VX) hang above the hitting area and leave the floor clear. The EYE XO and ProTee VX mount 9 to 10 ft up; the Falcon mounts 9.5 to 10.5 ft up.
Line every model up on the launch monitor comparison.
Golf Net Side Barriers, No Fly Zone and Frame Pads
Side barriers and the No Fly Zone catch the shots you did not mean to hit. Frame pads protect the frame, and the outdoor cover keeps a net that lives outside out of the weather.
Each one is an add-on you tick on The Net Return Golf Net page when you pick the size, so it arrives sized to your net.

Side Barriers
- Does: catches heel and toe strikes beside the net

No Fly Zone V2

A dash means that add-on is not offered for that size. Every add-on is a checkbox on The Net Return Golf Net page, matched to the size you pick; the Net Golf Simulator package offers the side barriers and No Fly Zone.
The Net Return warrants its nets for 3 years or 250,000 shots, whichever comes first; a replacement net is an exact-fit sleeve for the same frame.

Golf Simulator Net FAQ
Twelve questions about golf nets: sizes, ceilings, room, drivers, outdoors, financing and warranty.
A golf simulator net is a free-standing net that stops real golf balls indoors or outside, so you can hit full shots at home.
The Net Return nets on this page also roll the ball back to your feet. Add a launch monitor and the net becomes a simulator on a phone, tablet or TV.
Buy a net if you want to practice now, move between the garage and the yard, or keep the first purchase under $695. Buy a screen when you want the course projected in front of you.
A net can be a screen too: tick the Simulator Kit when you order a Home through Pro XL net and it adds a projection screen and valence for $389 to $899.
The Home net (7 ft x 7 ft, $695) fits an 8 ft ceiling when you hit irons and stand about 5 ft 6 in or under; a driver wants 8 ft 6 in to 10 ft by height.
Golfers 5 ft 7 in to 6 ft want 8 ft to 8 ft 6 in for irons, The Net Return's setup guide says.
The Pro wants about 8 ft 6 in; under 8 ft, the Mini (5 ft x 6 ft) suits 7 ft to 7 ft 6 in.
About 14 ft from the wall behind the net to the wall behind you, and a room about 2 ft wider than the net.
The Net Return's setup guide allows 1 to 2 ft behind the net, 5 to 10 ft from the ball to the net and 2 to 4 ft behind you. A radar launch monitor behind you needs more depth.
Yes. Every size of The Net Return golf net is rated for ball speeds up to 225 mph, so real balls with drivers, irons and wedges are fine.
The limit is your ceiling, not the net: a driver swing wants 8 ft 6 in to 10 ft by golfer height. The Junior suits kids and the Mini suits small rooms.
The patented S-shaped frame absorbs the shot and rolls the ball back toward you.
Yes, with side protection. The Net Return calls side barriers highly recommended for indoor use, because a heel or toe strike can send the ball sideways.
The universal pair for the Home, Pro, Pro 8, Pro 9 and Pro 10 is $249.
The No Fly Zone V2 adds 1 ft 6 in of netting above the net, with 3 ft 6 in of overhang, for lofted chips and flop shots.
The Net Return nets are built for indoor and outdoor use: a powder-coated aluminum frame, commercial polyester netting and a UV-protected polyester sleeve.
If the net stays outside, The Net Return recommends an outdoor cover and laying the net flat in strong winds. The cover is an add-on on the net page for the Mini through Pro 10. The Floating Screen Simulator Bay is indoor only.
Yes, when you order the net with it. The Net Return Simulator Kit is an add-on on the net page: it slides a darkening valence over a Home, Pro, Pro 8, Pro 9, Pro 10 or Pro XL net and bungees a projection screen to the frame.
Set the projector to 4:3 rather than 16:9 to match the screen's squarer shape. The kit costs $389 to $899 by net size, and the screen comes off in minutes.
Any launch monitor we sell works with a net, because the net only has to stop the ball. Pick by where the unit sits.
Radar units sit behind you and need the most depth; camera units sit beside the ball; overhead units mount 9 to 10.5 ft up by model. The placement list above gives examples; the builder lists all 22.
The Net Return warrants its nets for 3 years or 250,000 shots, whichever comes first.
When the netting wears, a genuine replacement net slips onto the same frame: $347 for the Home and $799 for the Pro XL.
Yes. Top Shelf Golf offers financing through Affirm, with monthly payments and rates as low as 0% APR for qualified buyers. Select Affirm at checkout to see your options.
Top Shelf Golf is an authorized dealer for The Net Return, so every net carries the manufacturer's warranty: 3 years or 250,000 shots on the net, whichever comes first.
Simulator screens, covers and accessories carry 1 year. Simulator screen sales are final; everything else follows our return policy.
