Fiberbuilt 9'x4' Center-Hitting Studio Review: Our Take
Buy the Fiberbuilt 9'x4' Grass Series Center-Hitting Studio if you want a joint-friendly hitting panel with a 300,000-shot guarantee that righties and lefties share, set up for down-the-line radar launch monitors, for $1,499.
It fits simulator rooms 14 feet wide or more where right- and left-handed golfers both play and a radar launch monitor sits behind the ball.
Pros
300,000-shot guarantee on the Fiberbuilt Grass hitting panel.
Center strip serves right- and left-handed golfers on one mat.
Fiberbuilt designs it for down-the-line radar launch monitors like FlightScope.
Rubber foundation adds shock absorption under the hitting surface, easing the jolt of hitting down and through.
Tool-free modular assembly with easy-lock fasteners.
Cons
The 1-foot hitting panel is half the width of the 2-foot panel on the Player Preferred 10'x4'.
Real tees need the friction-fit holder; the Real Feel CenterStrike takes wooden tees straight into the turf.
At 175 lbs it needs a firm, level floor, never bare ground or grass.
A center-hitting mat needs a room at least 14 feet wide.
Key numbers: 109" x 49" x 2", 1' x 4' hitting panel, two 4' x 4' stance mats, 4 tee holes, 175 lbs, 300,000-shot guarantee.
How It Compares
Fiberbuilt 9'x4' vs Other Studio Mats
Three simulator hitting mats we stock, side by side.
Can left-handed golfers use the Fiberbuilt 9'x4' Grass Series Center-Hitting Studio mat?
Yes. The Fiberbuilt Grass hitting panel runs down the middle of the mat with a stance mat on each side, so right- and left-handed golfers hit from the same strip without moving the mat.
How wide a room does a center-hitting mat need?
Plan on a room at least 14 feet wide. On a center-hitting mat you stand on either side of the middle strip, and a narrower room does not leave enough space on each side to swing a driver.
Which launch monitors suit this mat?
Fiberbuilt designs the center-hitting Studio Mat for down-the-line radar launch monitors like FlightScope, which sit behind the hitting strip.
Can I hit off real tees?
Yes, with the included friction-fit real tee holder. The hitting panel has 4 tee holes that take the included 2.625-inch rubber tee or the friction-fit holder for real tees.
What comes in the box?
One 1' x 4' Fiberbuilt Grass hitting panel, two 4' x 4' Performance Turf stance mats, one 2.625-inch rubber tee, one friction-fit real tee holder, and the tool-free modular rubber foundation with easy-lock fasteners.
How big and heavy is the mat, and where should it go?
It measures 109 inches wide by 49 inches deep by 2 inches tall and weighs 175 lbs. Fiberbuilt recommends a firm, level surface like concrete, packed gravel, asphalt or a solid deck, never bare ground or grass.
What is the difference between the Grass Series and the Player Preferred Series?
The Grass Series 9'x4' uses a 1-foot Fiberbuilt Grass panel with a 300,000-shot guarantee. The Player Preferred 10'x4' uses a 2-foot Pure Impact Turf panel over a Vibration Absorption Layer that absorbs 94.7% of clubhead vibration, and it is 1 foot wider.
Does the Fiberbuilt 9'x4' Grass Series Center-Hitting Studio mat ship free?

Does Top Shelf Golf offer financing for the Fiberbuilt 9'x4' Grass Series Center-Hitting Studio Golf Mat?

Received platform and installed right away. You can definitely tell when you hit a fat shot . So far I’ve hit about 1,000 balls both teed up and irons , full , pitches and chips. Zero complaints so far. The only caveat is my iron swing is about 71-75 mph but my son swings his irons at 86-96 mph. He destroyed the previous mat I owned. Time will tell on this mat. But as I said I love it so far.
Great price on the Fiberbuilt Player Preferred hitting mat. Feel of the mat is outstanding. A quality built product that I have no doubt will last for a very long time. Money well spent.
This mat is the best mat to date for me. I haven’t found a more realistic hitting mat when it comes to feeling fat shots and bad shots. If you are in the market for a combo mat go to top shelf golf and check out what they have because you won’t be disappointed.
I made the mistake of buying a less expensive hitting mat (1" thick) when I set up my golf simulator and ended up injuring my right elbow from it. After some research I settle on the Fiberbuilt Player Preferred mat and absolutely love it. The feel is just like hitting from the fairway and the shock absorption is great -- no more soreness in my elbow.
We have these mats in all of our bays at Bay State Golf Club. They're the best on the market and we will continue to buy these as we open more hitting bays. We've been using them nonstop for all of our operating hours for 3 months straight and have not seen the wear and tear that one might expect, a sign of the high quality that Fiberbuilt delivers. Big recommendation from us.
The whole setup is pretty solid! It really doesn’t move around but the turf that comes with this is not very good in my opinion! It’s cool that it has the rubber bottom to make it stay where you want but the turf that comes with it is pretty crummy! For almost 800$ they really skimped on the turf! I’ve had country club elite and dura pro perfect reaction mats that were much sturdier mats and they both also took a tee but they weren’t as soft and spongy! Okay so I’m I’m updating my review because tbh this was a poor purchase! I love the rubber base but the mat is so soft and poor that I ended up shelling out another 500$ to buy a Country Club Elite mat to fit in it. The mat that Fiberbuilt gives you makes you feel like you’re standing on pillows, which is not optimal for actual practicing and never allows you to feel grounded! If I could go back I found a company that makes a base for a 5x5 mat for about 150$ and I would have bought a Country Club Elite mat and saved myself 500$
If you're an avid golfer, you know how important it is to have a high-quality tee box mat that can withstand heavy use and deliver a realistic feel. And that's where the Fiberbuilt Tee Box Golf Mat truly shines! Every swing feels like real grass, your hands, elbows and joints don’t feel sore after countless swings like other Mats I’ve tried in the past. Overall the Fiberbuilt mat is the best hitting mat for all clubs I’ve ever used. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who wants a great performance long lasting hitting mat!
I recently upgraded to this mat from various other products. This is far and away the best mat I have hit off - anywhere. The product is well engineered and designed. It comes in sections and according to the UPS manifest, weighs 600lbs in total. Don't let that scare you, it is relatively easy to handle in smaller pieces. Love this mat.
Mat was easy to assemble and is very stable. As heavy as it is, it is not going anywhere, which is perfect. As a lefty golfer with a wife and friends that are right-handed, it was the only option for me. The feel of the turf is much better than other turfs I have hit off. Very pleased with the quality, hoping the durability proves itself over time. It has been in place for about 2 weeks now.

The old hitting mat I used was purchased on the Amazon around $150~200 and it had a 3 rubber tee holes on each sides. But, it teared off in a just 2 months and the bottom sponge was mushed easily also it was not steady.
Also, the mat was keep moving when I stance and hitting a few balls and it makes me crazy. I have the Uneekor EYEXO launch monitor which is installed on the ceiling and it detects the ball on the fixed rectangle area. So once the mat moves, I need to re-arrange the mat every time.
So, I researched high quality hitting mat and I upgraded to the 5'x5' Fiberbuilt Tee Box Golf Mat finally.
The bottom rubber pad was easy to assemble and quite heavy so it doesn't moves at all.
The most good thing is that there is no tee holes on the mat. I can use my tee to put anywhere on the mat.
And the other good thing is, (The reason why I choose 5'x5') I can rotate the mat to all 4 ways even the hitting area is worn out. But I don't think it will worn out easily.
My wife says that the feeling on the hand when hitting the ball is much better than before.
It's a little expensive but it deserves it I think.
The quality is superb. I love this mat. It is not forgiving on fat shots, but it will make you a better ball striker. Have it in my home simulator and I could not be happier. Well worth the money. Stop buying cheap mats. You will save money in the long run.
What a great experience with Top Shelf golf. I had been considering a golf bay for some time, and finally pulled the trigger. Everything came on time and in perfect condition. Setup was very easy and all instructions were provided.
I highly recommend this company for your golf bay/hitting station needs. Love it!!!!!
Absolutely loving my new Fiberbuilt Player Preferred hitting mat. By far the best and most real feeling hittingat out there. Feels very similar to hitting off fairway. Also Top Shelf Golf has been absolutely phenomenal. My first one came with a minor defect and they shipped a new one out right away, no questions asked! Excellent customer service. Top Shelf Golf has earned a lifelong client for great customer service and extremely fast shipping! Have my eyes on the Uneekor Eye XO as my next upgrade and wouldn't hesitate to buy from Top Shelf Golf. If you are looking for a great hitting mat with real feel and easy on your joints, do yourself a favor and buy the Player Preferred mat by Fiberbuilt and buy it from Top Shelf Golf. You won't regret it!
This hitting mat is awesome! So soft to stand on and provides lots of protection through the hitting area. You can just tell that it is true quality when you first stand on it. Very sturdy and easy to put together. You get what you pay for…
Wonderful golf mat. I have had it for just a few weeks, but it's everything you would want in a golf mat. Easy to assemble. Sturdy with no slippage on a carpeted floor. Solid stance thru out the golf swing. Turf like feel when you hit the ball off the mat. No jarring or twisting on impact. Perfect!
The fiberbuilt golf Mat and tee are the best combination for your in home golf sim.. I’ve tried other brands and none compares. Topshelf golf is the fastest and cheapest mat for your golf sim.
I purchased this Fiberbuilt hitting mat with my Mevo+ unit and absolutely love it. I bought the 4x6 and although relatively expensive you get what you pay for. The rubber base and frame the mat sits in makes it quite heavy and doesn’t move whatsoever when striking the ball. The mat accepts a wood tee and after using it for about a month and hitting well over 2500 balls it shows absolutely no wear. I absolutely recommend this product to anyone
TopShelf Golf was a pleasure to deal with. Not only do the sell quality products, their customer service and sales teams were top notch. Would highly recommend topshelf golf
This hitting mat is top notch, it will not move! There is no shock, if you hit it fat - but we all never do that ... EVER!!! I am very impressed with this mat and the customer service TopShelfGolf provides!
After buying the simulator package we felt that the net return mat was too hard on our floor. We immediately bought the fiberbuilt and it was delivered within a week. This is him practicing on the game improvement with the new turf. It just feels like butter.
Excellent quality. This mat is so much better than the original that came in my golf simulator package. It is so much easier on wrist and elbows when you hit fat shots. I cannot say enough good things about this mat, just love it
I LOVE my fiber-built mat. If feels so great and realistic. The rubber base makes your time in the simulator much easier on your feet and knees. The guys at Top Shelf are polite and helpful. I was also impressed with how easy returns are when I ordered the wrong projector. Great folks.
